HYPE Restobar | Broadbean Hotel, Vyttila, Kochi
Perched on the rooftop of the Broadbean Hotel in Vyttila, Kochi, HYPE is an immersive restobar experience that blurs the line between industrial rawness and urban street culture.
Guests arrive through a dramatic lift opening into a tunnel-like corridor designed with stark cement finishes, exposed wiring, and ambient lighting, evoking a raw, industrial aesthetic. At the end of this moody passage stands a rusted corrugated metal door – a symbolic gateway. As it opens, it reveals a breathtaking panoramic view of Kochi city, setting the stage for what lies ahead.
The open-air, non-AC section is conceptualized as an abandoned urban street, complete with a bitumen-finished road, paver block paths, and remnants of broken concrete pillars entwined with wild greenery. One side of this space is taken over by vibrant graffiti and spray-can art created by local street artists, adding an edgy authenticity. The furniture here is an eclectic mix of vintage pieces sourced from local homes – each item unique, rugged, and rich in character.
As guests move through the street-like setup, they transition into the AC family restobar. This section features patterned floor tiles, rustic brick walls with exposed piping, and glowing filament bulbs, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. Custom-designed rotating metal chairs and plush lounge seating add to the comfort while maintaining the industrial edge. The sloping ceiling is clad in cement board, with supporting pillars finished in textured grey stone.
At the heart of this space lies a raised DJ platform, crafted in saw-cut wood with concealed ambient lighting. By night, the space transforms into a vibrant party zone, with RGB lighting, laser beams, and pulsating energy that brings the rooftop alive. The highlight: an uninterrupted 180-degree view of the Kochi skyline, making HYPE not just a restobar, but a destination.
